Thank you for taking the time to visit and learn a little about me. I was raised in the mountains of North Carolina, spent time in Norway, San Diego, and now live in the DC metro area with my foodie husband and a russet potato-sized parrot.

I have been creating web sites and graphics since 2009, and I've loved drawing and photography as long as I can remember. I have a broad ecommerce background with extensive experience in email marketing and product catalog management.

Is that Russian?

It's not Russian; it's Choctaw. I am named after a small town called Satartia (sah-TAR-shah). Satartia is a small community resting on the banks of the Yazoo River in the Mississippi delta. In the early 1800s, it was on a busy cotton shipping route. Today it's a sleepy town of about 50, surrounded by cotton fields that stretch for miles into the Delta.

I am named after Satartia, not because I’m from there or have Choctaw roots but because of the kindness of a stranger and the lyrical nature of the word on my mother’s ears. “If I ever have a little girl, I’m going to name her Satartia” she said.

The summer I graduated from high school, my mother took me to Satartia. On the wall of the general store was every picture she'd ever sent of me. Little had I known, this entire town had watched its namesake grow up.
